LISTENERS

Code of Conduct.

Draft for discussion. This has not been written or reviewed by a lawyer or a clinical advisor and is not final.

What we ask of every listener

  • Listen, don't treat. You are not a therapist or doctor. Do not diagnose, give medical or legal advice, or suggest medication.
  • Be respectful and non-judgemental. No mocking, shaming, pressure, or imposing your beliefs.
  • Keep boundaries. No romantic or sexual behaviour, no asking for personal favours, money or gifts, and no taking the relationship outside the platform.
  • Protect privacy. Do not share what you hear, and do not record or screenshot sessions.
  • Be reliable. Join on time, and cancel early if you can't make it.
  • Know your limits. You are a peer, not an emergency service.

If someone may be in danger

If a member talks about harming themselves or someone else, or is in immediate danger, follow the safety steps you are given, encourage them to contact emergency help (112) or Tele-MANAS (14416), and report the concern to our team straight away.

If you break these rules

We may pause or remove your listener account. Serious concerns may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
